There's a version of appliance repair that happens when something stops working entirely. And there's a more valuable version that happens before it does — when something's running off, getting slower, throwing occasional errors, or just not performing the way it should. In Bolinas, CA, Call Allen Appliance Services handles both. Allen works across every major home appliance category, brings the diagnostic depth of a specialist to each one, and gives homeowners the kind of complete picture that lets them make informed decisions — repair now, or watch it for another week, or replace it before it fails at the worst moment.
Expert repair and maintenance for every major appliance in your Bolinas, CA home.
Annual maintenance prevents most of the faults Allen is called out to repair.
Front-load and top-load configurations.
"I don't know what this is going to cost and I'd rather not find out right now."
Allen's response: call anyway. After a ten-minute conversation and a scheduled visit, you'll have a specific quote before any work starts. If the number doesn't work, you don't proceed. The diagnostic visit costs you information, not a commitment.
"Maybe this is just the machine telling me it's done."
That may be true for some appliances. For most mid-life machines with a single fault, it isn't. Allen gives you the comparison — repair cost against replacement cost for a comparable unit — and tells you what he'd honestly recommend. Sometimes repair is clearly the answer. Sometimes it isn't. You'll know which before you decide.
"You've had a repair done before that failed."
Allen's answer isn't a guarantee phrase — it's a process. Every repair includes documentation of what was tested, what was found, and what was done. If the same fault returns, call back. Allen stands behind his work personally, not through a warranty department.
Real repairs. Real results. Regular visits in Bolinas, CA.
Tested the evaporator fan, defrost heater, defrost thermostat, and condenser coil. Found failed defrost heater with ice buildup. Replaced heater, cleared coil, confirmed 37°F. Total time: 90 minutes.
Found pinched vent duct restricting airflow to 30%. Corrected duct run, replaced thermal fuse, ran test load. Dryer has been running correctly since.
Read fault history, found motor current errors. Replaced worn rotor position sensor, ran three full cycles with no errors.
"Correct diagnosis, right parts, verified result."
It's a complaint Allen hears regularly: "First the washer, then the fridge, then the stove — everything's going at once." It feels like bad luck. It's usually something else.
Most home appliances installed in the same property were purchased around the same time. They enter the home at the same age, run under the same conditions, and approach the end of their designed service life at roughly the same point.
Allen's approach in Bolinas, CA is to give homeowners a clear picture of each appliance's condition and honest guidance on which to repair, which to watch, and which to budget for replacing.
"I had three appliances that all seemed to be developing problems around the same time — fridge, dryer, and stove. I expected three separate service calls. Allen came out, assessed all three in one visit, repaired the fridge and dryer same day, and gave me a clear picture of the stove issue that let me plan for it. One visit, multiple problems addressed. That's exactly the service I needed."
"I called Allen on a Monday morning about a refrigerator that had been running warm since the weekend. He picked up, asked the right questions, came out Tuesday, diagnosed a failed evaporator fan motor, and had it replaced before noon. The fridge has been holding temperature perfectly since. Personal service from start to finish."
"I appreciated that Allen told me my dishwasher wasn't worth repairing — the pump motor, the control board, and the door hinge assembly all needed work on a twelve-year-old unit. He gave me the repair total versus a replacement cost and it was an easy decision. I respected the honesty more than I would have respected a repair that bought me another year."
